Dear Colleagues:
On behalf of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the hosts, the Mexican Association of Petroleum Geologists (AMGP) and the Mexican Association of Exploration Geophysicists (AMGE), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 International Conference and Exhibition (ICE).
The conference theme, “Exploring frontiers in a competitive environment”, refers, on one side, to the new opportunities industry players have to explore in order to keep in business and on the other side, to the challenging setting derived from low oil prices. Mexico’s Energy Reform and current bidding rounds have created great interest in Mexico and this makes ICE 2016 in Cancun, a perfect setting to discuss business opportunities in exploration and production in the competitive environment imposed by current industry conditions.
The technical program includes a variety of geological and geophysical themes. Special Country sessions have been organized so that you can catch up with the latest happenings in oil and gas exploration and production in Argentina/Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Trinidad & Tobago/Suriname. The Regulators Forum will give you insights on the regulatory challenges for exploration, development and production activities. The National and International Oil Companies forums will address challenges and opportunities within their own countries and in the international arena. The Discovery Thinking Forum and the conference luncheons round out a technical program that you must not miss.
Of course, ICE 2016 in Cancun is an excellent opportunity to network, learn and collaborate with experts and peers from different parts of the world, and especially from the Latin America region.
I am so glad you have joined us in Cancun.
Sincerely yours,
J. Antonio Escalera Alcocer
